Minerva, Roman Goddess of Wisdom
Minerva, Roman Goddess of Wisdom
wisdom, justice, the arts, abundance
Handmade from sterling silver and 18k gold, Minerva holds her staff of wisdom while her owl companion sits on her shoulder. Her face is carved from a recycled piano key and delicately scrimshawed by hand. The necklace is reversible - showing the labraodite stone on the back - with a sterling silver chain, Australian opal, and diamond in her helmet. Minerva was the goddess of wisdom, justice, and the arts, being a renown weaver herself. She was also the patron goddess of Athens, giving them the olive tree which provided them with everything necessary to proper. She measures 2.2" x 1.6".

Each goddess necklace is signed on the bottom by the artist and includes a beautiful double-rope sterling silver chain. The standard chain length is 18" but can be substituted for 16", 20" or 24." A solid 14k gold chain can be included for an additional cost.
In an age where women were expected to be both demure and docile, Minerva’s fiery nature and interest in intellect defied convention, making her a truly powerful figure in mythology for women. Minerva was a staunch supporter of the arts - being a renown weaver herself - and often counseled mortals who had won her favor, using her gifts of intelligence, strategy, and cunning to avoid actual warfare.
