Kuan Yin, Goddess of Compassion
compassion, gentleness, healing
Handmade from sterling silver and 18k gold, the Kuan Yin necklace shows the goddess pouring out the water of compassion over the world from a golden vase. Her body is carved from a recycled piano key, and her features delicately scrimshawed by hand. The necklace is reversible - showing the stone on the back - and beaded with natural pearls. Kuan Yin, known as "She Who Hears the Prayers of the World," is a great healer who bestows gentleness and mercy on those who call her name. She measures 1.8" x 1.5".

Each goddess necklace is signed on the bottom by the artist, with an easy-to-use sterling silver and gemstone box clasp. The standard beading length is 19" but can be strung to any length.
Kuan Yin, also known as Guan Yin, Kwan Yin, Guanyin, and many more, was originally the mother goddess of China. She proved so popular that she was adopted into the Buddhist pantheon as a bodhisattva (a person who has attained enlightenment but chooses to forgo Nirvana and remain in the world to help others attain enlightenment). Simply calling her name in a time of crisis is believed to grant deliverance. Kuan Yin reminds us that gentleness is the strength behind true power. Be very gentle with yourself in all ways, and look for the shining light with each person around you.
